Back in 2015, I had written a short film screenplay called "Learning to Fly". In that story, Kara El had just arrived on Earth had had not discovered her powers. It was a story of her first flight. In my head the short film was meant to be accompanied by Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly". While I was very happy with that sceenplay, it would be very effects intestive and beyond what I could do at the time so I shelved it and went on to other projects such as "The Princess in Yellow", "La Cauchemar" and "The Red Button". In the interim, the character of scupergirl had stuck with me. so I wrote a couple more Supergirl related screenplays thinking that when I had the budget and could reasonable accomplish the requiste special effects, I would do them later. Among them were "Battling Bullies" where Supergirl teaches a young girl how to defend herself, "Sorry", a tale of Supergirl's misadventures as she discovers her super powers, "Batman Versus Supergirl" Where Bruce Wayned loose against Clark Kent in poker and has to baby sit Supergirl and "This Was Krypton", a TED talk given by Supergirl about the planet and its history. A couple of years later, a friend, Dante Ponzanelli, approached me becase he needed a screenplay of a short fim project he was doign for school. He asked me if I happen to have something that was Batman related. the constraints of the project was that it had to be done in eight to ten weeks and needed to be about eight minutes long. I told him that I had a "Batman Versus Supergirl" screenplay but that it would be very effects intensive and was closer to fifteen minutes long. I also suggested the "Batling Bullies" screenplay which was shorter and less effects intensive. He went with "Battling Bullies". After "Battling Bullies" had completed shooting and the project was turned in for Dante's class, I found myself with a very expensive Supergirl costume nad thought that pershap we could do another Supergirl film. That is when I started at looking at doing "Sorry". In the process of preparing for that it iseemed that we had a cast of talented kids for one scene and someone playing the part of Lois Lane. It seemed a shame to waste all that talent. So, I wrote "Super Pals" where Supregirls buddies dish on what it is really like to be friends with her and "The Lois Lane Weekend Report" where Lois interviews Supergirl about her powers. We started filming in April of 2018 and currenlty finsihing up the editing. to cover the costs we will be having a crowdfunding campaign for "sorry" later this year. |
